PYTHOLOGY · REAL-WORLD DEPLOYMENTS · RĒKOHU / CHATHAM ISLANDS

Built for
a place that matters.

Two environmental intelligence systems developed for one of New Zealand's most remote communities. Community weather information through Helios. Ecological monitoring through Chathams EcoWatch.

Not a concept rendering. These are screenshots of systems we've built and operated. Their capabilities and data quality continue to be evaluated.

THE WORK, NOT JUST THE TECHNOLOGY

Two different problems.
Two practical systems.

The screens below come from the Chathams projects. They show their real interfaces, not a simulated future product.

01 / COMMUNITY WEATHER

Helios.
Weather that meets people where they are.

When concerns about access to dedicated weather information for the Chatham Islands were raised, we built a weather intelligence service and made it freely accessible to the community.

Helios puts changing conditions, forecast periods and weather context into an interface people can actually use. It is a living weather service, not a claim that Pythology has replaced official warning authorities.

Service availability can vary; check the live service for its current state. Official NZ weather warnings remain authoritative.

02 / ECOLOGICAL INTELLIGENCE

Chathams EcoWatch.
Change you can investigate.

EcoWatch was developed for conservation monitoring needs on the Chatham Islands, including potential use by the Department of Conservation. It uses environmental observations and satellite-derived measurements to investigate changes over time.

Vegetation condition, moisture and water-related indices can be compared with baselines so unusual differences are visible to reviewers, rather than disappearing into a collection of disconnected charts.

Research and pilot-stage monitoring; satellite indices are indicators to investigate, not verified species counts or proof of ecosystem damage. This work is not presented as an official DOC endorsement or contract.

WHY WE BUILT THEM
Useful weather and environmental information shouldn't depend on how remote a community happens to be.

That belief is what connects these two very different pieces of software.

WHAT COMES NEXT · PROPOSED

From Rēkohu
to mainland Aotearoa.

One regional deployment is a proving ground for a framework that could support conservation across New Zealand.

The mainland programme is a proposal, not a completed deployment or a DOC commitment. Each region would require suitable sources, local baselines, ground-truth checks and the right operational partners.

ENVIRONMENTAL INTELLIGENCE THAT DOES THE WORK

Real interfaces. Real evidence.
More places to help.

Chathams EcoWatch is an independent Pythology project; mention of the Department of Conservation describes an intended conservation use case, not endorsement or procurement. Research indices do not replace field surveys, expert assessment or official public warnings.
